On October 23, 2018, the Chair held a cocktail to celebrate the first edition of the Desjardins Award for the new generation in nursing care for older people and their family.
The winners of the two $2,500 awards are Marie-Hélène Lalonde and Geneviève Leblanc. They were both students at the Faculty of Nursing of the Université de Montréal under the supervision of the Chairholder, Anne Bourbonnais.
It’s in a festive atmosphere and surrounded by more than thirty persons that they received their prize. The families of the winners, the Chairholder, the Dean of the Faculty and the members of the management and scientific committees of the chair were some of the guests of this cocktail.
This edition of the competition aimed to promote knowledge transfer by the students and gave them the opportunity to present an oral presentation at international conferences. They respectively presented at the Congrès international francophone de gérontologie et gériatrie (CIFGG) which took place in Montreux in Switzerland, and at Congrès mondial du Secrétariat international des infirmières et infirmiers de l’espace francophone (SIDIIEF) which took place in Bordeaux, France.
