Last May 26, the Research Centre of the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (CRIUGM), of the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux du Centre-Sud-de-l’île-de-Montréal, celebrated its annual Science Day attended by various persons involved with or interested in research in aging.
Nathalie Houle, student of the Chair, presented a poster communication on a literature review related to her Master’s thesis on the meanings for families, which include an older person with Alzheimer’s disease living at home, to use medication for the management of behaviours in older people.
The objectives of this presentation were:
- To become familiar with the concept of chemical restraint used in older people living with Alzheimer’s disease
- To understand the importance of focusing on the families that use medications to manage the behaviour of a close one.
We offer our congratulations to Nathalie Houle for her involvement in the Science Day and thank her for her contribution in expanding knowledge on nursing care for older people and their families.
