Anne Bourbonnais, the chairholder, conducted a critical ethnography aiming to describe the experiences of family care partners of an older person living in a long-term care home during the first wave of the pandemic and their recommendations for supportive actions.
From the beginning of the study, the data collected showed great distress, so the preliminary findings of the study were shared with the Minister responsible for Older People at the Quebec government’s Ministry of Health and Social Services.
At the end of the study, 88 recommendations for supportive actions or practices to be avoided or done were identified by the care partners! These actions are relational, organizational, communication or societal. The findings from this study were disseminated to various political, clinical and community stakeholders.
