INESSS publishes a literature review on the quality of living environment in long-term care homes
To improve the evaluation process of the quality of living environments for older people living in long-term care homes (LTC), the Ministry of Health and Social Services asked the Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS) to identify the distinctive elements that contribute to the quality of a living environment as well as the aspects to consider in the revision of the evaluation process.
To improve the evaluation process of the quality of living environments for older people living in long-term care homes (LTC), the Ministry of Health and Social Services asked the Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS) to identify the distinctive elements that contribute to the quality of a living environment as well as the aspects to consider in the revision of the evaluation process.
This literature review identified five (5) fundamental characteristics of a living environment of good quality and described their impacts. More than 35 tools and 25 indicators were listed to evaluate the quality of a living environment.
