In 2019, the first Canadian village, inspired by a Dutch model, opened in Langley, British Columbia. This type of infrastructure provides an adapted environment for residents living with a neurocognitive disorder. A second village, this time funded by the government, opened in July 2024 in the town of Comox on Vancouver Island.
