In June, the Chair’s projects were presented during two international conferences.
As part of the SIDIIEF World Congress held in Bordeaux, France, from June 3 to 6, 2018, a symposium on research projects conducted by the chairholder and by the students of the Chair was presented. The story of Ms. Desjardins, a fictitious older person, served as the backdrop linking the research projects presented where each addressed an issue experienced by older people through the continuum of care in Quebec. The National Director of Nursing Care and Services of the Ministry of Health and Social Services concluded the symposium by presenting the Quebec orientations and policies influencing the care of the older people in Quebec.
The Chair’s work was also presented at the 11thInternational Francophone Conference on Gerontology and Geriatrics (CIFGG) held in Montreux, Switzerland, from June 13 to 15, 2018.
The results of the study aiming to explore the perceptions and the needs for gerontechnologies to improve care in nursing homes were presented. Marie-Hélène Lalonde, a master’s student, also presented the results of her master’s thesis.
We want to mention the dynamism and commitment of the students toward the Chair, as well as the excellence of their presentations during these conferences.
